âProviding healthcare professionals with clinical evidence, product information and product samples supports their recommendation for treatment for patients with pain. The healthcare professional’s recommendations ensure that people with pain have access to safe and effective over-the-counter topical pain relievers, âsaid John Incledon, president of Hisamitsu. America, the distributors of Salonpas®, the world’s leading brand of over-the-counter pain patches.
The trend of increasing recommendations for topical pain relievers follows a growing body of guidance and recommendations from leading medical authorities. In guidelines released in August 2020, the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) recommend the use of topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as the first-line treatment for treatment of back pain due to musculoskeletal injuries in an outpatient setting. Previously, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) published advice clinicians to consider topical pain relievers as the first-line treatment in response to the opioid crisis.
Support for the clinical study and expert advice
SalonpasPro.com also contains a number of clinical studies including a recent Pain Management Study titled, âPersonalized Pain Therapy: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Used to Predict Patient Response to Over-the-Counter Topical Pain relievers.“It is based on data from the previously published RELEF study which investigated Salonpas Pain Relief Patch and found that patients treated with Salonpas reported greater reductions in pain severity, better quality of life, and less use of oral pain relievers than patients who were not treated with Salonpas. This study is published in Anesthesia & Research, an international peer-reviewed scientific journal. Healthcare professionals can access this study here.
In addition, reprints of the Higashi study, which led to the first FDA approval for an over-the-counter topical pain reliever, may also be demand.
Healthcare professionals visiting the site can access a question-and-answer session with Dr. Jeffrey Gudin, a esteemed pain management physician and Salonpas advisor who shares his ideas.
âFor over 80 years, Salonpas has fulfilled its mission of improving the quality of people’s lives through topical pain relief products,â said Incledon. “Our family of patches, creams, roll-ons, gels and sprays are effective, readily available over the counter, safe and non-addictive.
